Tourism is one of the key factors that will help India develop into an economic giant. It is a key driver of job creation and revitalization of the cultural sector in India. However, sustainable tourism development is expected in Karnataka, which emphasizes the need for rural tourism development through its new policy framework. Kalaburagi is an unexplored site in Kalyana Karnataka, filled with historical and natural attractions; however, tourists do not visit there. Despite the huge potential for growth within the area, the location remains relatively underdeveloped. As it is. The literature shows that implementing the Karnataka Tourism Policy 2020 – 2025 in Kalaburagi encounters specific challenges such as poor connectivity and inadequate provision of accommodation facilities. Based on household surveys and stakeholder interviews, it can be established that development gains are only experienced through improved transport connectivity and better service provision. Nonetheless, digital marketing activities remain low, and investment by private players is insufficient. On the other hand, community participation led by self-help groups faces significant financial and organizational obstacles. At present, the economic advantages of tourism development are experienced as temporary employment opportunities due to the seasonal nature of the activities performed. Expansion of small rural circuits is necessary. In this respect, policymakers should push for development of agro-tourism initiatives with a focus on millets. Furthermore, training should be provided for locals to improve their skills. Public-private partnership is critical for the sustainability of such efforts.
